The December minutes are as follows:
December 6th, 2005 Downtown Airport, Hangar One
Many thanks to Bob McDaniel and his wife for the lasagna, salad, and dessert
too!!
Called to order at 7 pm 25 guests and members present. We currently are at
a recent history high of 66 members. That would put meeting attendance at
less than 40%. I am sure we can do better than this. Come on out guys and
attend a meeting.
Secretary’s Report: Waived due to newsletter mailing
Treasurer’s Report: As of 12/5/05, the club balance 16,174.05, this
after the usual expenses and income. We have 10,380.29 in a CD paying 3.55%
which comes due 5/16/06.
Correspondence: The club received their EAA renewal papers and Larry said
that he will fill out and forward to corporate. Larry also received a thank
you note from the Boy Scout Troop that we flew as YE during the October 1st
Fly-In.
Old Business: The hangar project is still stagnant. We seem to have no interest
in hangars currently. Bob stated that the 60x80 guys are moving forward and
doing some dirt work. During the first to the last BD-5 work party, Larry
Frey misplaced his prescription glasses. If you were at this work party at
Mike’s, please check your coat, etc. We think someone may have mistakenly
picked them up. Larry’s phone number is 654-7808. Another work party
was set for December 20th although this was moved forward one week to the
13th. 6 guys showed up. Mike Lotz, Larry Loiseau, Larry Frey, Jim Pauling,
Ron Peek, and Walter Turk. Thanks for coming and helping out. We worked on
the wings, elevator, and fuselage, discovering a problem with the canopy.
It was determined the canopy should have been built in 2 pieces instead of
the one that it currently is. We have a decision to make on how to proceed
with this canopy whether we cut it in two per the plans, or leave it whole
and attempt to hinge it.
The leather jacket raffle was discussed and tickets were passed out. We are
selling them for $5 a piece or 3 for $10.00. We will have the drawing during
the Holiday Party. Please contact any officer if you require tickets.
New Business: Bad news is upon us as Larry received a letter from the News
Democrat. They are moving out of the New Athens property as of December 31st.
Curt Lindauer said we should try and dispose of the building. Curt also said
that he and Wally will get a For Sale/For Rent sign put up.
New Elections are due. The position of Secretary and Vice President need to
be filled. Please either volunteer or nominate someone. We will hold elections
at the February Meeting. Three new members were present:
Todd Drenkhann, he has been out of flying for a while and is looking to get
back into our favorite activity. Jim Pauling would like to build an RV-10
and Randy Gandy is new to aviation. He purchased a Wittman Tailwind Project
and is heading North to pick it up.
