Correspondence: Walt received some information from Oshkosh
headquarters concerning the scholar program. Brian added that
the EAA AeroScholars Fundamentals of Aviation Science program
is an online course. The EAA Fundamentals of Aviation Science
is a quality online course designed for high school students.
This is something that the EAA64 group may consider sponsoring
for interested high school students. EAA is trying to grow the
base of those with aviation interests. Bob McDaniel stated that
if the chapter sponsors the course they get 100 dollar discount
on online course.
Jordan Leskera, a junior at Edwardsville High School, was in
attendance and stated he is trying to get into University of
Illinois. We voted to put Jordan’s name on the AeroScholars
program.
Old Business: The SWIC scholarship that EAA64 sponsors
was recently awarded to a student for an aviation program. They
have asked us to sponsor this again for next year. They are
very good about giving it to someone who needs it.
Trip to Dayton is on hold – we can’t get the bus.
The arrangements for the annual January Holiday Party is all
set up - the GAUA will join us at the party. The EAA64 Christmas
party will be held January 17 at Fischer’s Restaurant

chicken, salad, veggies, dessert, tea, and coffee for $17 per

us for the party. Shaky Dave is a great one-man band and will

always a good time!! There will be a cash bar for cocktails
beginning at 6PM and dinner will begin at 7PM . Bring a $10

Technical Advisor-
Program Director- February - Wings of Hope presentation. Going
south of the border w/ pictures, etc.
Young Eagles- We need to estimate every year how many we will
fly – our goal this year was 100 and we made it easily.
Doc has the record at 145 and Bob McDaniel is at around 134
and Ken Gotschall around 90.
Projects- Rick Rehg is working on the wing for his 601, wings
connected, looking for 2” tubular steel.
Wally – Working on Luscomb
Gary Kearns -- RV- 7 – started construction in 2002 and
getting ready to have it inspected and certified.
www.lindauer.net – Has a Stintson for sale.
Bob bought a minimax and added it to the collection.
Gary – model rocket organization has been approved as
non-profit 501C organization.
Bob McDaniel – gave demonstration of a fuel
line that looked perfectly good but when he poured water in
it it leaked badly. He found it by filling plane, when the vent
leaked he turned the gas off which he usually never does. When
he returned and turned the fuel on he had a pool of fuel on
the floor after completing the pre-flight. Had he left it on
in the heated shop he could have had a disaster.
50/50 Drawing-none
The meeting was adjourned at 7:42PM with 36 members present.
Does anyone need a large heated hanger? Bob McDaniel
has one for rent.
