CHASCOE News:

1/20/06  At the request of Administrator Lasseter a new round of cost saving plans are being developed by SEDs.  The FSA budget is not adequate for our current employee ceiling and office locations (and Information Technology costs).  This new initiative is asking State Directors to identify cost saving opportunities in their states, but rent and salaries are our biggest budget items, so office closures are going to be in the spotlight again.

10/19  The bill to stop office closures until the new farm bill is completed is still alive and looking for co-sponsors.  HR 3974 is the bill number.  Here is a link to the bill And a link to the co-sponsor list  When you ask your congressman to support this bill please use your home phone, your home email and your personal time.

10/18  The FSA Tomorrow plan for office closures is on hold.  It is not dead, the department is working with congress to find a way to close offices, they simply want a closure method which is not so controversial.

10/3  New Directors for District 1 are Sandy Davidson and Joe Gassaway

No ballots received for District 3
