I. LITERATURE
Write a story (minimum of
two pages) about a monster in your life. It must be built around one of the
issues listed above. It may
be a literal monster or a metaphorical monster, and you may ÒfictionalizeÓ the
story if you wish.
Assume you are making a
movie your story:
II. MUSIC
¥ a.)Find music from the
Romantic era (19th century) that
could be used as music for the Title and Credit frames of a film version of your
story (2 minute maximum so use an excerpt). The music should reflect the attitude, character, and
theme of the story. It does not
need to, nor should it, reflect specific actions in the story i.e. chase scene,
love scene, murder scene.

Provide a brief (one paragraph) biography of the composer which mentions the most significant experiences
of his/her life.
¥ c.)
List the romantic musical
characteristics found in your musical example.
III. ART
Create a poster advertising
your movie that reflects the issues
represented in the story. It should be a Movie Poster. Write a brief summary explaining
symbolism and Romantic elements used.
Support your poster, explain the issues.
IV. PERFORMANCE
Create a
television commercial for your movie. Present a performance that reflects the primary issue in
your story. It should not be a
scene from the story but rather a performance to set the mood, a prelude to the
issues or attitude of your story.
Suggestions: Interpretative dance, mime, performance of a piece of music
that sets the stage for the movie, dramatic readings...
NOTE: WRITTEN MATERIAL INCLUDES STORY,
COMPOSER BIOGRAPHY, MUSICAL CHARACTERISTICS. POSTER EXPLANATION. ALL WRITTEN
MATERIAL SHOULD BE TYPED.
NOTE: All four components of this assignment
are to be related and coordinated with the story you write.
