I.
Responding to one of the above pair of issues create two images, either representational, abstract or a combination
of both. One image should represent the left side of the issue and one image
the right side. The works may be
drawn, painted, or may be a collage of photographic images that demonstrate the
contrast within the issues.
Do not worry about your artistic abilities; it is the thought,
creativity, and appropriateness of intent that count.
Briefly,
(it may be in outline form) list the principles of Design and Composition you used in each image and
explain how your images are related to the issues selected.
II. a.
Bring in a musical example that
represents the elements and characteristics of
"classicism" and another
example that represents "romanticism"
b. Provide a tape or CD of about a one minute excerpt
of your example which best illustrates your argument.
c.
Tell which one is Classical and which is Romantic. Explain and support your
decision with references to the musical elements and the performance.
III.
Write an original story. Create two endings, one ending that
is Romantic and one ending that is
Classical. They should be Romantic
and classical in style as well as
in content.
IV.
Prepare a performance (sing, dance, play, mime, act) to
present to the class that illustrates the contrast in one of the issues. You might want to select music to
accompany your presentation. Be
prepared to explain the relationship between your performance and the issues
selected.

Remember-
It is the thoughtfulness and creativity that is important. We all are not great artists, writers,
or musicians. Also, enjoy it! Have fun with it! Show your understanding in a way or
ways that is most meaningful to you.
