Regarding the sale of water to Ice Mountain

The MCWC (aka - MuckWhacks) are spreading information about Ice Mountain's use of water from Evart that is not true.

From the CANADIAN LAKES PROPERTY OWNERS CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING SATURDAY AUGUST 21, 2004 ....

3. Don Sutherland announced the garage sale for the Michigan Citizens for the Water Conversation on Saturday September 18 from 9:00 to 4:00 at the Remus Farmers Market. He also reported that the City of Evart is considering selling water from one of their pumps to Nestle. The legality of this potential sale is being investigated. He advocated people write their lawmakers supporting legislation to restrict and control the use of the water.

The water is actually not a new use, but a replacement use, as an auto parts factory has informed Evart that it is significantly reducing it's water needs. Evart approached Ice Mountain to see if they would buy some of their now "surplus water". This would be a significant loss to Evart if they could not find a buyer of their water. The sale of water to the auto parts factory is, literally, a significant revenue stream for Evart.
From the Grand Rapids Press:

"Evart officials approached Ice Mountain after their largest water user, an auto-parts factory, said it planned to significantly reduce its consumption.

"There are a lot of pieces that would need to come together. But if they can come together, Ice Mountain would be a full customer of Evart's water," said company spokeswoman Deb Muchmore, who called it a "great opportunity."

The entire article is at The Grand Rapids Press on MLive.

So for those who wish to know the truth - Evart was looking for someone to buy their water and approached Ice Mountain! Evart was already selling significantly more water to the auto plant, which, for the record, created waste water from it.

Maybe the MCWC would like to drink the auto parts factory's "water product" for awhile? I don't know if there has ever been a taste test between factory waste water and bottled spring water, but maybe the MCWC could trying selling factory waste water at their garage sale? ;-)~
