"This band is hotter than a sailor on shore leave...lord have mercy
this lady can not only play guitar, she can belt out a tune!!! Big Love
has growling vocals and big guitar, but it also has a smokin' band backing
it all up. Hold On To You is a funky tune with some Robin Trower
inspired guitar playing. I found myself on the 3rd listen concentrating on
the bass guitar and being blown out of the water...Pat Morvan plays
amazing bass guitar and when you buy this CD focus on his bass playing
after you have listened to the songs a couple of times. Incredible!"
- Blues Review Magazine, Dec/Jan 2005
"The Laurie Morvan Band...on Find My Way
Home...with a connection to Stevie Ray Vaughan...Morvan handles all
guitar parts... aggressive fretwork..." - The Herald News, July 11,
2004 (Joliet, Illinois)
"Morvan writes the songs that her band
performs, and...they all contribute to their own musical parts and the
backup vocals...'I usually write about what’s going on in my life or
things I’m thinking about.' The most gratifying part of being in the
band is receiving feedback from her fans, telling her what a particular
song meant to them. 'That, to me, is a cool thing, to make that
connection, when they say, ‘That song helped me through a bad time in my
life'.” - The Enterprise, July 7, 2004 (Plainfield, Illinois)
"...the band’s sound...a blend of blues,
rock and pop...Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Bonnie Raitt. What are some of
Morvan’s other musical influences? 'I grew up absolutely loving bands
like Heart, The Pretenders and The Go Go’s...I’ve also always loved
southern rock,' Morvan added, saying the group’s style is closer to the
Allman Brothers Band." - OC Weekly, May 8, 1998 (Orange County, CA)
"...fronted by a woman who painfully wailed
on guitar and tonsils...their rubber-band-handed bass plucker impressed us
with his six-string technique ...imagine the Indigo Girls having an orgy
with the Allman Brothers Band with Stevie Ray Vaughan snapping
pictures..." - Press Clips & Quips
Music Connection Magazine says... "Here's a
female-fronted roadhouse rockin' blues outfit...a tight band and it shows
on their self-released CD...no doubt a very entertaining live
act...possesses the essence of American rock & roll...the tunes are so
infectious..."
Downey Business says..."With a female guitar
player/vocalist smokin' out some bluesy guitar this band could easily be
on the same concert bill as performers like Bonnie Raitt and Melissa
Etheridge."
