Ainjel Emme

"…a full, pure voice that pierces your hard outer shell and gets right at your mushy heart."

Long As It's Sweet Indie Song of the Year

When Ainjel Emme (pronounced angel em) got her 7 year old hands on her first guitar – a cheap nylon stringed mini that her grandmother bought her on a day trip to Tijuana, Mexico – her fate was sealed.

After receiving her first Les Paul copy for her 15th birthday, she dropped out of school to pursue her dreams of being a rock and roll icon. Since then, this tireless 28-year-old singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has earned a reputation as a solid guitarist with an intuitive, understated approach. She cut her teeth on the streets of Austin, a city famous for producing fine guitarists.

Her sensitivity and appreciation for different musical styles makes her a versatile player, able to jam along whatever the song.

Ainjel made a splash in 2004 when she independently released her debut album, Heartache is Boring. Heartache was a top seller at CDbaby.com and was picked for Top 10 CDs of the Year at Austin's prestigious KUT 90.5 FM. The first single, Long As It's Sweet (on which she handled all instrumental duties) has enjoyed airplay on independent radio stations all over the world, topped the charts at a number of internet radio sites (IAC, Garageband.com, mPulse.com, artistlaunch.com, and more), and made it to the finals at IAC's 2005 Indie Song of the Year contest (ultimately losing out to Pete Townshend – who isn’t exactly indie, in our humble opinion). She was later inducted in to the IAC Hall of Fame. The Texas State University Star, along with the majority of fans who've purchased the album through CDbaby.com, gave the album five stars.

Ainjel is never content to stay entirely focused on being a frontwoman. She rarely turns down the chance to sit in on a show or a session. Shandon Sahm (drummer for Meat Puppets / Gibby Haynes turned frontman and son of Texas legend Doug Sahm) recruits her on lead whenever he can get her for live shows and featured her on his latest album, Knock Yourself Out. She also sits in often on rhythm guitar for LA’s All-Girl AC/DC Tribute Band, the Whole Lotta Rosies. In addition to being a gifted rocker, Ainjel’s guitar skills lend themselves well to pop, soul, blues, and folk music. She is humble enough to fully appreciate what she’s got, and confident enough to show it off. She has the all of the qualities befitting a woman who will end up influencing the next generation of girl guitarists.

Currently recording her second album Songs to Pass the Quiet Hours in Los Angeles, this young lady from Deep in the Heart of Texas has quite a bright future ahead of her.
