Strong
lyrics and a singer who knows how to deliver them.
"It's about time!"
Those are the words you so often hear from fans of
award winning singer songwriter Kelly Fitzgerald of her long anticipated
solo album Kelly Fitzgerald, So Far released in July, 2005. Kelly's
So Far album is her third release and follow-up to her 2003 very
notable album Halfway to Naked as well as her award winning 1998
independent album Vesica Pisces, which sold over 7,000 copies.
Music Connection Magazine stated "vocalist
Kelly Fitzgerald sings with authority, painting pictures with her words;
the players are tight and the arrangements nicely varied," voting the
Vesica Pisces album into the Top Twenty Demos of 1998.
Kelly, along with her band, earned an invitation
to the prestigious MIDEM Convention in Cannes, France, where their efforts
were recognized by the music industry, winning their nomination for LA
Music Awards Best Adult Contemporary Artist of 2000.
Playing well over 200 nights a year, Kelly has
performed all over the world as a solo and ensemble performer. She and her
band have shared stages with artists such as Shelby Lynn, Nancy Griffith,
Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, The Gin Blossoms, Vonda Shepard and many more.
Kelly's sophomore album Halfway To Naked,
produced by Grammy Award winning producer Jack Douglas, was released in
2003 under the Big 3 Records label.
"It was a great experience working with
Jack," says Kelly. Jack Douglas is the producer of artists such as
John Lennon, Aerosmith, and Cheap Trick.
"The band has something special. The songs
are well crafted and the girl sings phenomenally," Jack says in an
interview for the Floridian.
In April 2003, the single No Easy Way Out
from the Halfway To Naked album won accolades for the band by
earning the #2 spot for the most added spins, just behind Lucinda
William's Righteously on the triple A charts.
Following up the release of the Halfway to
Naked album, Kelly and her band went on a U.S. radio tour and opened
for Cheap Trick in the spring and summer of 2003. The same year they also
opened for major acts at the world-renowned Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
And once again, the artful talents of Kelly and the band earned them a
nomination for Best Adult Contemporary artist by the LA Music Awards,
along with Kelly's nomination for Best Female Vocalist.
In 2005, Kelly was nominated for Best Female
Vocalist and Best Solo Performer at the 2005 Orange County Music Awards.
The music press is also giving Kelly high marks in
numerous reviews. Totally Adult Magazine writes, "Their music is
honest, passionate and clearly pours directly from their hearts. The
poetic foundation upon which these grooves are built is too strong to be
ignored."
And Liz Mann/WLPW writes, "Finally a clear
poignant woman who doesn't whine. Kelly Fitzgerald is not only tops on our
play list but in my personal collection as well."
Kelly Fitzgerald is known for her soulful style,
which is a blend of folk, blues and rock. Influenced by Billie Holiday,
Ricky Lee Jones and Led Zeppelin, Kelly's voice has been likened to Bonnie
Raitt, with a contemporary comparison to Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl
Crow. The result is music that is smooth and gritty, honest and moving.
Kelly was born and raised in Salem, Massachusetts
where she performed in nightclubs with local bands while attending high
school. Shortly after high school, she left Salem and began touring
throughout the U.S., including Hawaii and the Caribbean, with long-time
friend and songwriting partner, guitarist Brian Pothier. After years of
touring, Kelly and Brian landed in Southern California where they met
drummer and collaborator Adam Nicol Roach. Together they formed the band
Vesica Pisces and recorded their first album. Together with her band,
Kelly has created a grass roots following across the U.S. and the world as
they have traveled to Europe and Mexico and performed for the U.S. and
NATO troops in Bosnia and throughout the Balkan Islands.
So far, Kelly is enjoying a life long career doing
what she loves most: writing, performing and sharing her music with
audiences around the world.
This is Kelly Fitzgerald, So Far.
