Clarksville National Little League

2011 Fall Season

Tee Ball Rules

  1. 1.The entire roster will bat each inning.  (The inning will not change when 3 outs are recorded.   When an out is recorded, pull the player off the base, but do not track the number of outs.  ie, always play as if there are zero outs for the purpose of base running and defensive strategy. )

  1. 2.Coach may pitch from anywhere between the pitcher’s mound and home plate.  (ie, as close as he wants)

  1. 3.The batter will get 5 pitches to hit off the coach pitcher.  After 5 pitches, the ball shall be placed on the tee, and the batter will remain at bat until he hits, or is put out.

  1. 4.If a batted ball strikes the coach, all players return to previous base, and the pitch is not counted.

  1. 5.The ball must travel at least 10 feet or it is foul.

  1. 6.All players shall play each inning, with no one on the bench at any time.

  1. 7.You may use 2 pitchers, but otherwise play a standard infield.

  1. 8.No player may play the same position for 2 consecutive innings.

  1. 9.Each player must play at least one inning in the infield, and one inning in the outfield each game.

  1. 10.The defensive pitcher must stand with one foot in the dirt of the pitcher’s mound.

  1. 11.When a player overthrows a base, runners may advance one base at their own risk.

  1. 12.The time limit is 1 ½ hours.  You may play as many innings as you like, but try to get all players the same number of at bats.   No score is kept.

Teeball is the first exposure children get to the game of baseball.  Most of them are not yet mature enough to play baseball the way the game is meant to be played.  Please encourage your players to make the proper play, and run the bases the proper way.  Your fastest player could likely run all over the field and tag base runners out himself.  But instead, you should encourage him to throw the ball, even when it reduces your chance of making an out.  Your fastest runner could likely score on almost every hit, but instead you should have him take the number of bases his hit would earn in a real game.   Use the game as an opportunity to teach fundamentals and basic strategies, and to help the kids develop a love for the game.
