DVD to DVDr Using DVD2ONE and Toast 6.x

 Applications Needed:

 1.         DVDBackup

 2.         DVD2ONE

 3.         TOAST TITANIUM

 Step 1:  BACKUP/DECRYPTION OF DVD

NOTE: Before you run DVDBackup, you must first run Apple DVD Player and have it access/play the DVD. Simply having it open and then immediately quit may cause errors during the ripping process.  Its best to have it open, play and skip around with the chapter forward button through each chapter.

**: If you are backing up DVDÕs that are not in your particular region code you can use VLC instead of Apple DVD Player (which can only change region codes 5 times) whereas VLC is region free.  Point being you should preview the DVDÕs chapters before using DVDBackup.

1.     Open DVDBackup and drag your mounted DVD to the left window.

2.     Next Simply click the Process Files button on the bottom right of the window. When the Save window comes up, make sure to select the create VIDEO_TS option.

(my recommendation is to have created a new folder on your desktop that reflects the dvd name and the fact that this is the backup file)   For example, ÒTwo Weeks Notice BackupÓ  then save the VIDEO_TS folder in that folder.

 Step 2: DVD2ONE CONVERSION

1.     Open DVD2ONE.  Click the Select button next to the source box and find the VIDEO_TS folder you just created using DVDBackup.

2.     Choose USER DEFINED instead of DVD-RW and type in the value of 4444.   This ensures that this VIDEO_TS folder will fit on any dvd-r, as not all will hold the default file size!!! (saves you the headache of guessing)

3.     Next Decide on MOVIE ONLY or DISK COPY. Movie Only does just that, only the movie, quality is slightly higher.  Disk copy copies the entire disk, menusÕs and extras. (If you feel up to the challenge, and want Movie only but still want a working menu/scene selection then click HERE.)

4.     If you want only the movie, set the Copy Mode to MOVIE ONLY, then click the Audio and Subtitles button on the bottom left of the window and select the audio and subtitle tracks you want included in the movie.

5.     If you decide you want the entire disk copied as it presented on the DVD, change copy mode to DISK COPY and select the audio streams you would like included on your disk

6.     If you decide you want to join two VIDEO_TS folders together into one DVD choose join.  When you do this you will see a window open to the left, where it says #   |  VOB SET   |  SIZE.   As soon as you load a VIDEO_TS and choose an audio portion you will see a green check appear under #.  You can then load a 2nd VIDEO_TS folder by pushing +, ensuring 2 is highlighted then selecting your 2nd VIDEO_TS folder and choosing its audio.  Seamless join implies that the two will be joined seamlessly and playback will continue as a chapter break.

7.     Which ever you choose the last step is to click Start.   I suggest creating another folder on your desktop that reflects the DVD name and the fact that this is the copy that dvd2one makes.  For example, ÒTwo Weeks Notice DVD2ONEÓ that way you know which VIDEO_TS is the smaller one, and the one to be burned.

Step 3. BURNING WITH TOAST 6.0

1.     The Easiest way to do this is to create a folder with the name of the DVD on your desktop, make sure that it is in all capitol letters and _ for spaces. Example TWO_WEEKS_NOTICE

2.     Next move your DVD2One created VIDEO_TS folder into the folder you just made and renamed.

3.     Now open the folder you named as the DVD, which now has VIDEO_TS folder in it, and add a new folder called AUDIO_TS.

4.     Next Launch the Toast Titanium Program and select the DATA from the four options across the top.  Then click DVD-ROM (UDF) to set Toast to the proper format.

5.     Now drag your DVD named folder containing the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders into the Toast window.   Check the folder contents in toast using the arrows to open each folder.   Look particularly for files such as .DS_STORE which is a OSX invisible file.  If present, use TOASTÕS clear function to remove those files.

6.     If done properly, toast should the disc name equal to the name of your folder and should show two folders within the disk, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS.

Which will appear like this when expanded with the arrows pointing down:

DVD_NAME  (Example TWO_WEEKS_NOTICE)

                        VIDEO_TS

VIDEO_TS.IFOÉ.(and all the others, .BUP, .VOBÉ.).

                        AUDIO_TS

7.     Click the burn button and you are done!
