Prior Walks

2008 Walk in the Park

Despite a stormy forecast, the sun shined on as over 100 supporters forged a new lakeside route at our fourth annual Walk in the Park, held at the Ludington Park pavilion.

The Anderson family bake sale was again a huge and tasty success, as was our first silent auction. The McInnis and Anderson families spoke memories of Don and Sue, and there was hardly a dry eye in the park as seven-year-old Hunter Anderson took to the mike to donate his jar of savings to the cause. The balloon release was a moving sight (though next year we'll try to move away from the trees).

We were happy to meet Jim LaJoie, president of the Marquette General Foundation, who enlightened walkers on the foundation's purpose and the use of the money raised. Jim also presented Walk in the Park with a plaque in appreciation of our efforts on behalf of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center.

A special thanks to our faithful and hardworking volunteers: Dolores Hanson, Denise Makosky, and Geri Tate. This year, we raised over $6,500 for the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center through the Marquette General Foundation. That makes a grand total of over $22,000.00 raised since the walk began.

We are continually surprised and blessed by the support this event has received. In the words on David M. Bailey, let's "keep on walkin'!"
