Welcome!

Earth From the Spacecraft "Galileo"

Galileo RIP on Jupiter 09/21/2003

Welcome to my web site! I am an electronic technician currently at liberty. I have experience in a number of areas, including navigational aids, radio, computers/digital, telephony, security, access control, nuclear based gauging systems, and work very well with multiple discipline systems.

My hobbies are Ham Radio, Aviation, Computers and the Internet, and Music. I also am in the 248 TAC AIR SQ, Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, which is kinda my avocation.

I hope you like the things I have included on my page, and find them useful. The Internet is a tremendous resource, and we are only beginning to find ways to make use of it. We are wittnessing a real revolution in the way people communicate with each other, and I feel fortunate to be here to see it.

The following are some of the links that I particularly like, especially in light of my interests. Amateur Radio Operators do a lot of severe weather spotting for the U.S. Weather Service, and of course I am interested in the weather as it involves flying, both recreationally, and doing search and rescue work for the Civil Air Patrol.

The Gadsden Flag: The American Revolutionary period was a time of intense but controlled individualism - when self-directing responsible individuals again and again decided for themselves what they should do, and did it- without needing anyone else to give them an assignment or supervise them in carrying it out. Such a person was the patriot Colonel Christopher Gadsden of South Carolina. He had seen and liked a bright yellow banner with a hissing, coiled rattlesnake rising up in the center, and beneath the serpent the same words that appeared on the Striped Rattlesnake Flag - Don't Tread On Me. Colonel Gadsden made a copy of this flag and submitted the design to the Provincial Congress in South Carolina. Commodore Esek Hopkins, commander of the new Continental fleet, carried a similar flag in February, 1776, when his ships put to sea for the first time. Hopkins captured large stores of British cannon and military supplies in the Bahamas. His cruise marked the salt-water baptism of the American Navy, and it saw the first landing of the Corps of Marines, on whose drums the Gadsden symbol was painted.
