Metal Finishes for the Custom Gunsmith by JOHN BIVINS

Reprinted from Rifle magazine (No. 50) March April 1977 by Wolf Publishing Co., Prescott Arizona

Yes, that back issue is available -- for $6, which includes shipping and handling.  (1-800-899-7810)

    ¾ “ plywood, 16 x 16 x 65 ½”

The upper bulb is 25 watt

First you need to find a stainless pan to use, this one is 11 ½”, it should set 1- 1 ½ “ above the light bulb.

Original plans called for a 150-watt bulb, I use a shorter 100-watt and it works fine. The 150 was to hot!

The hole is 10 7/8”; I fit aluminum flashing as a reflector.

Cookie sheet holds the meat thermometer that can be read thru the bottom window.

Humidity and Temperature gage, as seen in the top window.

Covered with Plexiglas inside and out, and sealed with silicone calk.

Rheostat for the bottom bulb, to control the humidity.

I used four latches for a nice tight fit.
