Jerry Fletcher, New York cab driver, is a paranoid, conspiracy theorist who has theories on everything from political assassination to the fluoride in toothpaste.  He repeatedly tries to warn Alice Sutton of the Justice Department of things that could happen.  She thinks he's a bit of nut, but feels sorry for him so humors him.  He's in love with her.  One of his warnings starts to appear all too true and she becomes involved with him in a search for the truth.   Dr. Jonas,  a CIA psychiatrist and Government Agent Lowery are both looking for Jerry, though not together and for different reasons.  You'll find twists and turns, suspense,  and some fun.  Enjoyable entertainment and Mel is great as the quirky, hyper-paranoid, ultimately sweet and likable Jerry.  His apartment is a statement of the extent of his paranoia complete with locks, traps, and mountains of files and clippings on everything you could imagine.   Julia's Robert's performance as Alice is great against Mel's Jerry.   Great music in the movie; especially like Lauryn Hill's (Columbia/Ruff House) version of "Can't Take My eyes Off of You" which is played at the end credits.  This song isn't on the Soundtrack CD nor is Frankie Valli's version (also played in movie)  Lauryn's version is on her "Mis-education" CD.

"I don't know what I know but I know that it's big!" ~Jerry Fletcher
