The family reunion was in Lakewood or Golden, Colorado (depending on what map you have) at Bear Lake Park. It was a very nice park with a lake that supposedly was full of Tiger Muskie.
After the reunion was over we thought that Red Rocks Park was worth checking out. This park has an amphitheater that is cut right into the natural red rocks. Many well known bands have played here.
The next part of the trip revolved around Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove to the top of Trail Ridge Road to the Alpine visitors center. It was 37 degrees up there and raining. The next day we did a little hiking. It rained and there was also hail and lightning. Three people up the trail from us got hit by lightning. They were able to walk out, however.
On the way home we stopped in a couple of other places. The first place was Devil's Tower National Monument. It was pretty much as I remembered from years ago.
The last leg of the trip was to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorials. We had intended to go through the Badlands as well, but as the road into the park was not well marked we missed the turn and ended up in the middle of the nowhere. We got back on course, but were too far away to return. We only got a few photos of the edge of the area.

These are some videos from the 2008 vacation. Unfortunately, I don't have the software to rotate the one video of Alberta Falls, so you will have to look at it sideways I guess.
