Comments about the web site: Cynthia, Through you I found my origination via Gen Majors. His line is mine as yours is. He had my grandfather's bd, dd, and marriage date. What started me on this journey was I looked in the file of papers my dad had given me and noted how bad shape they were in, yellow and brittle. I thought I don't have time to get into genealogy now but it would be a good idea to store that data some where. Then about a year later you contacted me and the rest is history. Thank you so much. Love, Mel Ditty

Comments about the web site: Thank you for the fax the other day. Your website is very interesting. Although we live in Washington State, my family is actually from a small town called Falls City in southeastern Nebraska. My father grew up there and his parents were John and Agnes Fergus, born about the turn of the century. As I recall there were many aunts and uncles that lived in the surrounding towns, undoubtably decendants of the Fergus' on your website. If you're interested, my dad's e-mail is jferg4@juno.com (James Fergus). Good luck! I've added you to my "favorites" and I look forward to seeing more in the future!

I am Margaret Fergus Cress, born Jan. 16, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio. My daughter applied for her children to be in Children of the American Revolution. My Dad was in the Dayton, Ohio Chapter of SAR from the late 40's. I had to do some research since my Dad's application did not require so much and his cousins were also in the SAR! Can you send me information on your branch of the family? I got some information from the Morman files; a lot from the church Francis Fergus (the 1824 one) and his wife Margaret Stafford helped to start in Sidney, Ohio. I also knew where everyone was buried in Ohio. My parents and grandparents are buried in Plainwell, Michigan since they all had bought plots there in the 1920's when they lived there. We had a summer home near Otsego which I sold several years ago. One cousin, and her family live near Bloomingdale, Michigan.

Comments about the web site: Thoroughly enjoyed your website, Cynthia. There's some marvellous material for researchers of Fergus and variants. My interest is the forbears and descendants of Charles FERGIE (c1740-c1795). Charles (born somewhere in Scotland we think!) married Margaret ALLEN (c1743-1823) and lived and died in Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ireland. Their children included Hugh (c1768-1856), Thomas (c1776-1843), Charles, James (c1784-1857), Allen (c1790-1852) and Margaret. By the time the family settled in Liverpool, LAN, ENG in the early years of the 19th century, FERGIE was pretty much a fixed surname, but some old memoirs indicate that it had been "Irishfied" from FERGUE. I've not been able to verify this - or the story that Charles's father operated a trading vessel between the west coast of Scotland and Ireland and settled in Belfast "for the convenience of his family." I'm beginning to wonder whether they actually moved from a more inland area of Ireland. Our branch of the family, which descends from Thomas (c1776-1843), settled in Melbourne during the 1850s.
