DISCALCED CALMELITE FRIARS

174 Old Street Road, Peterborough, NH 03458

December 1990

Dear Friends,

Once again I have to resort to a “canned” message to let you know what has happened to me since last Christmas.  Would you believe?  I’ve moved again.   Note my new address at the top of page!

Our Provincial “Chapter” (meeting of select members of the Province for the purpose of electing or re-electing superiors and conducting other legislative and policy-type business of the Province) took place in early June of this year.  One is held every three years.  Prior to the Chapter the Provincial-elect (he was elected by Province-wide voting by mail) asked me if I would be willing to go to be a member of the Community here at Peterborough.  We conduct a Retreat House Ministry here.  Then, a couple of days after the Chapter concluded, he phoned me to ask if I would be willing to be his delegate in charge of our communities of Lay Discalced Carmelites located throughout the Eastern part of the U.S.  Naturally, I said O.K. both times.  That required my going out to spend the summer in Milwaukee to serve kind of an apprenticeship, since that is where the office was located, and then to move the office from there to here (accomplished by the end of August) and to finish moving from our monastery in Brighton, MA, to here.

Since I try to combine my OCDS (Order of Discalced Carmelites Secular) work with being of as much help as possible with the retreat house ministry.  I am busier than I ever have been.  And I am obliged to travel to make “Pastoral” visits to all our communities during my three year term of Office.  One of the advantages of that, though, is that I may have a chance to visit some of you on my travels.  In any event, it goes without saying that I will be relying on your prayers more than ever.

Sooo…, Asking God’s choicest blessings of Advent and Christmas-tide upon you and all your loved ones, and with assurance of a continuing remembrance in my daily prayers and masses now and throughout the New year, I remain

Fraternally and affectionately yours,

Fr. Bruno
