Introduction to the Virtues
Father Bruno wrote these conferences on The Virtues during the years 1990 - 1998. In June 1990 he was appointed as Provincial Delegate for the Secular Order Communities in the Washington Province. At the meeting of the Secretariat that summer, the question of ongoing formation of Isolated Discalced Carmelite Seculars surfaced. At the time, their formation, by correspondence, ended with the making of the definitive promise. No uniform manner of on-going formation was decided upon, it being left up to the respective Provinial delegates to address the issue in the manner each deemed appropriate. Not wanting to be delinquent in such an important matter, he decided to provide a monthly conference. As to the topic, he remembered that Saint Teresa very frequently reminded her daughters in her writings that the proof of authentic and fruitful prayer was to be sought in the practice of the virtues. He began with The Nature of the Moral Virtues, and then to Prudence, Fortitude, Temperance and finally Justice. He ended these conferences to the "Isolates" in February 1998. He gave us a quote from his Novice Master, Thomas Kilduff, OCD. (click here)
