You will see the sign on the Lower Columbia Bowl building that was featured in "The Goonies" movie.  Also on the trail is the old Clatsop County jail, used in the movie "The Goonies" (1985).  Read newspaper article in the registration folder at the start point about U.S. Presidential visits to Astoria.  Volkswalker Arline LaMear who authored “Lewis & Clark, the Astoria Cats” lives in Astoria.  Washington Irving authored “Astoria” in 1836 from material provided to him by John Jacob Astor.  The Historical Notes page points out many landmarks.
