Option 1 - 5k/10k/13k  Begins at Netul Landing area of Ft. Clatsop.  About 1k along the first half of the route that Lewis & Clark took from the 1805 winter headquarters at Ft. Clatsop to the Pacific Ocean.  5k route is rated 1:  10k & 13k are rated 3.  No charge for parking or for walking the trail, but if you go into the Visitor's Center or the Fort replica, National Park Fees apply.  Vault toilet available in the Netul parking area.  Carry water.  Mosquito repellent advisable during the summer.

Option 2 - 10k, rated 2.  Out and back begins at the Sunset Beach trailhead, crosses the Skipanon River, passes the Pioneer Presbyterian Church and cemetery to the 1/2 way point of the Fort-to-Sea trail.  This part of the trail crosses pasture where you  may encounter a herd of cattle grazing or resting.  Vault toilet in the parking area.  Carry water.  Mosquito repellent advisable during the summer.

Option 3 - Walk from the Ft. Clatsop Visitor Center to the Sunset Beach trailhead.  10k one way and requires pick up at the end of the trail.  Shuttles usually operate during the summer months, but call the Ft. Clatsop Visitor Center @ (503) 861-2471 to verify availability and cost.  During the fall, winter and spring, a cab or wait car must be arranged.

The Fort-to-Sea trail wends its way through the woods from Fort Clatsop to Sunset Beach on the Pacific Ocean, covering land that once was home to the Clatop Indians.  While the Trail is navigable in any weather, please note that rain can make the trail slick in some places and muddy in others.  Also, while the abundant wildlife that you might see, such as deer, elk, eagles, bear, bobcat or beaver, might be shy,  the domesticated animals, such as cows, you can encounter in the pastures on the south side of US 101 might not be.
