Remote start: Driving directions to start of walk at either registration point.

Note: You may register and stamp books at either Astoria or Clatskanie.

     If you register at Astoria, then you will drive east on US 30 to Gnat Creek Fish Hatchery to do the walk. Then you will continue east on US 30 to the Mini-Mart in Clatskanie where you will turn in your start envelope and stamp your book.

     If you register at Clatskanie, then you will drive west on US 30 to Gnat Creek Fish Hatchery to do the walk. Then you will drive west on US 30 to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria to turn in your start envelope and stamp your book.

Event Info: Daily, dawn to dusk. No wheelchairs or strollers. Water and restrooms available at either registration point. There is a restroom in the Headquarters Building at the Hatchery.   Carry water. This 10k route (new for 2008) at Gnat Creek Fish Hatchery is mostly on a forested trail in Clatsop State Forest. You will see a working fish hatchery and two waterfalls.

As a result of the December 2-3, 2007 storm, timber has fallen across the trail in several places. Trail is passable but one must scramble under or over the logs. Until the Forestry Sevice clears and repairs the trail, the rating is increased from 3 to 4
