Walk Oregon Challenge: Lewis & Clark, Lighthouse, Golf Course, Namesake, Beaches, Clatsop County

Registration:  Motel 6, 2369 S. Roosevelt Drive, Seaside, Oregon

Directions:  Hwy 101 to Seaside. Motel 6 is south of the trafic light at Avenue U, adjacent to Bigfoot Pub & Grub.

Remote Start:  Registration file cabinet is in conference room behind the lobby.  Motel offers a 10% discount to volkssporters.  Register here and drive about a mile to start walk.  (Driving directions at registration point)

Event Info:

Daily, dawn to dusk.  Restrooms available at walk start point and along the route. Scenic walk through a beach resort. Mostly flat route, except for a short path over soft sand to view Necanicum River estuary and a short stretch along an ocean beach dune path. Walk on The Promenade, aka "The Prom", passing both old and new hotels and businesses, the aquarium (stop to view the whale bones on the south side of the building). On a clear day, you can see the Tillamook Head Lighthouse. You will pass a Lewis & Clark Sculpture at "The Turnaround" on Broadway by Shilo Inn and visit a replica of the Lewis & Clark Salt Cairn. Passes the Golf Course, and goes through a couple of city parks. Walk on the boardwalk along the Necanicum River.
