The show started with Three Doors Down opening. They were extremely good, if you have not heard them, go to CDNOW and listen to their album. Three Doors Down played about half their album, and played for 30 minutes. After Three Doors Down played, Sevendust came out and played for 45 minutes. Sevendust's performance was pretty good. Suprisingly, they did a cover of a Pantera song, and a cover of the introduction to "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lenard Skynard (hard to believe huh? I swear to god they did it!). After they played, there was about a 30 minute break before Creed. The anticipation had been rising and the crowd started to get wild. I myself was 8 feet from the stage in the pit and ready to take battle position.
Flames shot from the stage as Creed came out. Scott Stapp stared for a long second at the Creed banner, he looked as though he was worried. My assumption is that he thought the banner was on fire, but than he realized it wasn't and looked at the guitarist and laughed. Their first song was Ode, which got the juices flowing. The crowd was ecstatic, I almost fell down on several occasions in the pit. People were getting super pissed off and punching other people. It was complete chaos! By the time the third song, Are you Ready, was played, I had moved back about 10 feet from the stage. I wasn't enjoying the atmosphere of worrying if I was going to get punched in the face, so I just got out of there to find a seat somewhere near the top of the coliseum with my brother.
After being harassed by some event staff to find seats, we finally found seats way up near the top section. From here, I enjoyed the rest of the show. I can tell you now that the sound was excellent, and the seats were very comfortable in contrast with a hostile environment by the stage.
During the Faceless Man, the backdrop lit up with a blue glow. You could see a face on the backdrop, with the eyes being two clocks. You can see the backdrop in the "Pics Section". Overall, I think that was the coolest thing I saw on stage besides the flames.
I, personally, was not at all disappointed at the songs they played. Sure, I would have liked to of heard some new songs, but I liked the fact that I recognized all the songs and could sing a long with them. I extremely recommend going to a Creed concert if they are in your area. Get ready to take a battle position if you're in the pit though, because it could get rough. Also, I suggest you go to ticketmaster.com and get tickets at the Internet Presales, because if you don't, you might find it hard to get a ticket. Overall, I think it's the best use of $30 that I've spent in a long time!
