Last Progress.
Check out my recent work on the neon backplate.

I Used some scrap pine to contour the lip that holds the back plate.  I gued it to the torso with a two part epoxy.
I used Goop to glue the neon electronics to the back side of the backplate.
I used Duplicolor Gunmetal Grey (T177W) for the backplate finish.

There was some talk recently on the B9 Exchange
list about how people are holding down their top sections.
Here is my solution.  I fabricated these hooks out of 2" x 3/16" stock I bought at Home Depot.

Prototype Aluminum Donut.

Weighs > 30 pounds out of mold.  Around 18 pounds after machining.
Revised version will have less mass to reduce machining and waste..
Prototype also does not have rotation motor mount yet.

Aluminum Waist Plate

Custom Modified Rockler Turntable

This is my prototype.  The final design uses a 3 1/2 inch dimeter drive gear made of black Delrin
plastic.  This allows for faster and very quiet operation.

Here is the final version.  The drive gear is made out of black Delrin plastic.  Its very durable.
