Kathe sings baritone for Powder Keg and she was baritone for Peach Jam, the 1996 and 1997 winners of the Region 23 competition. It is widely believed that she sang before she was able to talk as a small child in rural Maine.
In addition to being a musician, Kathe is also a free-lance writer and novelist, the author of such well-known works as The Time Traveler's Dog, Only A Factory Girl and the sequel, A Factory Girl Does South Beach. In 2006 she won the Pulitzer Prize for her New Yorker magazine article, "Watch Out For Those Aerosol Cans!". She is also a regular contributor to Alien Abduction Quarterly.
Kathe commutes to rehearsals each week from her sprawling onion farm in Vidalia.

Kathe Schellman joined Sweet Adelines International in 1991 and sang for 10 years with the 1996 and 1997 Regional Champion Quartet, Peach Jam.
She has a Bachelor's of Music Education degree and taught voice lessons and choir on the high school level after graduation from college. After a couple years of teaching she became a Registered Nurse and did Med-Surg and ICU nursing for 12 years. She left nursing in 1996 and now does volunteer work at a women's residential alcohol and drug rehab program.

She is full-time Mom to her four kids: Michael (born in 1998), Melanie (1997), Madeline (1995) and Kingsley (1979), who lives on her own and doesn't need much looking after these days!. Kathe has been married to Richard since 1990 and lives in Marietta, GA.
