Meet Tanya!

TanyaTanya is Powder Keg's tenor, and she also sang tenor in Region 23's top quartet for 1996 and 1997, Peach Jam. She has a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from McGill University in Montreal, but she teaches UFO Studies at Roswell High School.

When not barbershopping, Tanya can be found bungee-jumping in the Atlanta area. She also participates annually in the Rattlesnake Roundup in Opp, Alabama, and her rattlenake recipes are popular across the nation. In 1995 she became the first woman to paddle a kayak from Greenland to the Marshall Islands. She took advantage of the 6 months of isolation to learn the tenor part on all Powder Keg songs.

Tanya Zingleman began her barbershop career in 1989 with Region 23 Champion Chorus Georgia Harmony, becoming passionate about quarteting almost immediately. Her quartet Peach Jam became the Region 23 Quartet Champions in 1996 & 1997, and the Jammers continued to compete and entertain audiences for close to 10 years. Tanya has enjoyed representing Region 23 at Sweet Adelines International Competitions at both the chorus and quartet levels.

She is a freelance marketing consultant, working with clients including Coca-Cola and Discovery Networks. Tanya currently resides in Cumming, GA with her three kids: Vivian, Nick & Drew.
