Our Last Meeting

At our last meeting… Judge Few entertained us with stories from the criminal court room.  There are 12,000 arrest warrants on over 4500 people per year in Greenville County.  Two judges work in tandem to try these cases.  One hears guilty pleas while one hears jury trials.  Judge Few says he hears a lot of stories from the defendants.  Some of these stories are tragic, some are funny, some are unbelievable, and some carry a message of hope.  It is his job to determine which defendants deserve another chance and which ones have already had too many chances.  Judge Few finds that media coverage of the court system is incomplete and inaccurate and welcomes anyone to sit in on these trials to see what is really going on in our justice system.  He closed his presentation by answering questions.  Chris Kelly was Program Chair for this meeting

Circle K Club at Furman

The Circle K Club at Furman University has been sanctioned by the student government and should receive their charter soon.  It is very exciting to have a college club started in our community.  Their charter night will be held in October.  More details to follow.
