Carving

I guess you could say the hobby of carving "fell" into my lap when we lost an old cherry tree in the backyard. At first I worked with a six inch blade, (sort of like slicing tomatoes with a chain saw). Yes, I still have all my fingers. My first was a shielelagh for my father-in-law, then with an exacto knife, I carved the miniature people and animals that ended up selling as tree ornaments. I took classes from a local carver who was disoncertated that I didn't want to carve birds. (He also felt carving was a *male* domain.) Now I've collected lots of branches, but less time.
