Message for all Bujinkan members and similar organizations. This site does not reflect Hatsumi’s teaching in its entirety. I spent years learning what he taught the way it was taught to me. I have taken away what is of no use in reality and kept what is relevant. Visitors would be wise not to compare what you see here to their training. We spar, we use gloves because we are hitting hard and we attack fast and in a manner like a thug would in the streets. We prepare ourselves for a real violent encounter. Slow speeds are good to internalize movements, direction, distance and learn techniques etc, but at some point one has to move to realistic speeds and realistic attacks. When speed is real the conflict shows itself for what it really is "chaotic" and the real lesson begins. I respect and honor Takamatsu and Hatsumi at my training studio for sharing the knowledge. I also respect and I am grateful to people such as Dick Severance, and Shawn Havens but I am specifically grateful to Butch Johnson. I am on my own path now to teach my family a viable system of self defense based on the principles that are inherent in Tai jutsu and I am glad to teach anyone who cares to train with us. Rank means nothing to me but being able to defeat a would be attacker is of most important to all of us. Sincerely…I wish you good luck. Jake Perz Gekido Jin Clan
