Cornelis Segerse VanVoorhoudt

Cornelis Segerse VanVoorhoudt, the progenitor of the Seger, Segers family in America, came to Beverwyck (Albany) in 1642, where he settled on a farm previously owned by Vander Douck. The farm, which was located on Castle Island, was called Welysburg.

His wife, Bregje Jacobsen, died April 1667, after 25 years as a frontier woman. She was in ill health since 1663 when they made their joint will.
