Rowland Powell

Rowland Powell was born in 1657 in Gloucester, Mass., the son of Rowland and Isabel Powell. He had a twin sister who died at birth, a second sister Mary, born 1660 and a brother, Stephen born 1662.

Rowland owned land in Lebanon, CT where he raised his family. His wife Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph Truman of New London, who emigrated from England in 1666. She is assumed to be Elizabeth Truman based on the following:

    1. 1. She named her son Truman
    2. 2. She named her son, who was baptized in Lebanon in 1706 and died young, Joseph.
    3. 3. A daughter Elizabeth Truman was listed in the will of Joseph Truman dated September 1, 1696 and proved June 3, 1697.
    4. 4. Joseph Truman Jr. posted a portion of the bond on the estate of Rowland Powell July 8, 1712.
 

 

Rowland Powell died intestate in Lebanon prior to July 1712. His wife remarried, late in life, David Lee.
