The Greater Nashua Men's Evangelical Softball League, also called the Church League,
is a group of 18 churches supporting 20 teams that have banded together to enjoy
competitive adult slow-pitch softball, fellowship with men from our own and other
churches, and to be a witness to the life-saving power of Jesus Christ
in our lives. Our League plays in Nashua (8 teams) and Derry (12 teams) primarily on Friday
nights from late April through mid-August. For more information, browse the web
site or contact the President.
Permits
Nashua and
Derry field permits are now available in the
Download area. Hard copies will not given out; please print out what you need from the website. All coaches should have a copy with them when they use the field. We've already had a problem with a field use conflict that would have been resolved in our favor had permits been distributed.
Dues Deadline
Friday, May 16th 5:00 p.m.: balance of team dues required. Note the new
dues policy.
Dues Policy
The League has a new dues policy that was approved by the coaches in July, 2007. Teams that do not meet in full their financial responsibilities to the League by the deadline set by the President will officially forfeit subsequent games until those financial responsibilities are met. The game should still be played. However, the official result will be a forfeit. The financial deadline is 5:00 p.m. on the 3rd Friday of the season (May 16th, 2008).

New Pinkerton Field (updated 4/28/08)
There is a beautiful, new (as of 2008) Pinkerton field we have been asked to use. It is across the street (heading east across Bypass 28) and south from the gym, just beyond the student parking lots. We have been requested to use the north field which is closer to the gym. However, we have been given permission to use the south field instead if needed (e.g. if the sun is a problem on the north field). For more information about Pinkerton fields, general policies and parking considerations, please see Pinkerton Policies and Procedures. The car parking policy is a must read if you use Pinkerton fields.
Coaches Meeting Highlights
The coaches meeting was held on March 6, 2008. Here are some of the notable items from this meeting.
Bylaw Updates
Many Bylaws were updated. Some of the most notable are:
Bylaw 3f: Multi-walled bats (double, triple) are not allowed for game use. All bats must comply with the ASA 2004 standard.
Bylaw 3j: The coach of the trailing team, at his sole discretion, can invoke the Run Ahead Rule (5.9) by so informing the opposing coach and the umpire. If notification is given, then the game will be considered complete and final.
Bylaw 3k: Teams that only have 8 players at a game may have a roster player from the opposing team play a non-defensive catcher role if there is agreement from both coaches and implicit or explicit agreement from the umpire. The responsibilities of a non-defensive catcher are only catching the pitches and throwing the ball back to the pitcher.
Bylaw 4c: Rosters, waivers and all other remaining paperwork should be returned with the balance of the league fees. Regular season roster changes or additions may be made at any time during the season. Playoff rosters are frozen as of June 30th. Playoff roster additions after June 30th need to be approved by the President (or Vice-President) with a justification for the late addition. Approval is solely based on the discretion of the President (or Vice-President). Please notify the President (or Vice-President) of any changes as soon as possible by mail, e-mail or phone including team and player name.
Home Run Rule
The League has a new
home run policy: As of 2008, our League has chosen to enforce ASA Rule #5.8.3 for Church Leagues which limits over the fence home runs to 4 per game. Subsequent over the fence home runs result in the batter being declared out and the ball being dead.
