A Right to Life
Michael Grooms
I. God is the Creator of Life in the Mother's Womb Psalm 139:13-17
A. You wove me in my mother's womb
1. Only God has the right to give and take life
2. To kill the unborn child is to destroy God's gift
B. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance
1. God is with the unborn child
2. God has ordained that the days of the child be lived out
II. The Unborn Child is a Living Soul
A. Luke 1:13-16 John was filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother's womb
B. Gal. 1:14-16 Paul was chosen to preach while in his mother's womb
C. James
III. What if the Child is Handicapped?
A. Does the fact that one is handicapped mean they are less worthy of life?
B. Does this mean that their life is worth less?
C. Luke 14:12-14 God views the handicapped as worthy of special treatment and valuable
D. 1 Samuel 6:6-8 God looks at the heart, not the body
IV. To Shed the Innocent Blood of Babies Incurs the Wrath of God
A. Psalm 106:37-40 The Israelites murdered their babies to worship idols
B. Prov. 6:16,17 The Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood
V. Answering the Lies of the Anti-Life Group
A. Notice I did not say "Pro-Choice"...the baby has no choice when he/she is murdered
B. "The unborn child is part of his mother's body"
If that is true, why does the unborn child possess a completely different genetic code?
Why does he often have a different blood type?
How do you explain the fact that he/she has their own immune system?
How can a male child be part of a female mother? What would that make the mother?
C. "The unborn child is not a person"
1. What is it then? mineral, plant, or animal? It is a living, growing, organism with a genetic code and distinguished features.
2. If it is not a person, at what point does it become one and who decides when it is?
D. "It is the woman's choice"
1. Notice they do not say "mother's choice' as that would imply a child.
2. What about the father's choice? Does he have no right to decide his child's life? Does he
only become the father with responsibility to the child if the mother decides to let it live?
3. Does the baby have a choice? Can it be right for one person to "choose" whether another
will live?
4. Let's look at a hypothetical situation:
Woman A and Woman B both become pregnant. Six months later Woman A has a
healthy but premature baby, and woman B is still pregnant. One week later woman B
decides she doesn't want her baby. Why should woman B be allowed to kill hers when
woman A isn't.
VI. The Christian's Responsibility Toward the Unborn Child
A. The Christian has a responsibility to protect the unborn children from slaughter
B. According to Dr. Bert Thompson, about 2,500 babies are aborted per day
C. According to statistics by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 38,010,378 reported abortions since
D. The Christian is responsible for how we vote when a candidate supports abortion
E. Read quotations from Al Gore
Conclusion:
A. Child of God, please consider carefully your responsibility to the protection of the unborn child against the act of murder called abortion.
B. When God takes vengeance on those who killed them, will their blood be on our hands?
