Alive to God
Romans 6:8-11

Introduction:
We who are God’s children have a hope unknown to those of  the world. That
hope is eternal life, beyond this life. Yet, while we wait for that eternal aabode, we know
that our eternal life has already begun. From our text we can be assured of these three
things:
 1. Our hope
 2. Our source of hope
 3. The realization of our hope

I. Our Hope (v. 8)
     A. “If we have died with Christ”
           1. This hope is only given to those who have died with Christ
           2. Not a physical death, a spiritual one
           3. We share the death of Christ (see vs. 3)
     B. “We believe we shall also live with Him” (vs. 8)
           1. This is our hope, to live with Christ
           2. How are we to live with Christ?

II. The Source of Our Hope
     A. “Knowing that Christ....is never to die again” (vs. 9)
           1. Matt. 28:1-6  Christ was victorious over death
           2. His victory is ours
     B. “He died to sin, once for all” (vs. 10)
           1. He had no sin
           2. Ye He died for ours
           3. Once for all
                a. For all people  2Cor. 5:15 ; Luke 20:38
                b. For all time

III. The Realization of Our Hope
     A. Consider yourselves (vs.11)
           1. We do not have to wait for that which we hope
           2.  Even now we can consider ourselves alive to God
           3.  This is through Jesus Christ who is the source of our hope
     B. Titus 2:11-15 We look for that blessed hope (His glorious appearing)
     C. Even while we wait we live in Him (Luke 20:38 )
"For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him."
     D. Rom. 14:7-9  In death and life we are the Lord’s

Conclusion:
Through Christ we die to the world, and live to God.
Phil. 1:21 “For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
