Jesus is In the Boat
Michael Grooms

It must have been frightening to the men as they watched the waves beating furiously against the boat. How long could the craft hold up? Surely this was the end of the line. And look at Jesus! Why, He is just lying there asleep, as if we were in no danger at all! Somebody wake Him up! ‘Master, don’t you care that we perish?”

How many times have you felt like those disciples in Mark 4? How many times have you wondered, “Doesn’t anybody care? Why does God let this happen to me?’ It is only natural to feel frustration and discouragement when things are going rough. But remember that when the storms of life are blowing too hard, and it seems like no one can understand how you feel, someone does. Jesus is in the boat. He has been there. He knows how it feels. Remember what the Hebrew writer said:

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
(Heb. 4:15, 16)

When the disciples woke Jesus they asked Him if He didn’t care if they perished. They were afraid, they were unsure, their fears needed to be calmed as much as the waves of the sea. Jesus simply stood up, rebuked the wind and said “peace, be still”.

Perfect calm. No winds. No thunder. No fear. Jesus is in the boat.

Peace is yours if you turn to Him. Let Him have control. Let Him rebuke the winds. He says to you “peace, be still”.

Remember, Jesus is in the boat.
