Introduction:
What do you see in a rainbow? Yes, of course you see colors, but what else? Do you see
Gods love? Did you know God established a covenant of love with mankind and
established the rainbow as a sign of that covenant? In Genesis 9, God told Noah that the
rainbow would be a sign that He would not destroy the earth with a flood again. As I look
at the colors of the rainbow I am reminded of some other promises that Gad has made.
I. Green- Blessings
A. The color green often represents vitality, health, and prosperity
B. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; He maketh me to lie down
in green pastures (Psalm 23:1a)
1. David could rest secure in the knowledge
that God would provide for him
2. Matt. 6:28-30 God has promised
to take care of us

A. Like the blue skies and the calm blue waters the color blue
represents a calm in life
B. "He leadeth me beside the still waters" (Psalm 23:1b)
C. The children sing "Blue Skies and Rainbows"
D. Jesus calmed the raging sea by saying "Peace, be still"
(Mark 4:35-41)
1. He says to you "Be still and know that
I am God" (Psalm 46:10)
2. We can know His peace, if we will "be
still" and let Him take control
III. Violet- Gods Sovereignty
A. Purple has for thousands of years represented the majesty of ruling
powers
B. Jesus wore a fitting purple robe John 19:1-7
C. God must have complete rule of our lives
IV. Red- Salvation
A. Red is the color of Christs blood that He shed for our
salvation
B. Rom. 3:24-26 The blood of Christ restores us with God
C. Col. 1:19-21 We have peace through His Blood
V. Gold- Heaven
A. Gold is the color used to describe Heaven
1. City of pure gold, street of pure gold (Rev.
21:21)
2. Wether this is real gold or not doesnt
matter, it is beautiful
B. Jesus has promised us a mansion John 14:1-3
Conclusion:
The rainbow is a reminder that God is with us and caring for us. He has made these
promises to us and He will keep His promises. There is a condition, you must give yourself
to Him. Will you do that today?
