How Green Jeans Totes got started:

I am a stay-at-home mom with four very active and playful boys who love to crawl around on the floor, wrestle, jump, run, and fall- sometimes on purpose. This, of course, was not good for their jeans. If I could get a couple of good months out of them I was lucky. I had to come up with a creative way to reuse these jeans, and not just turn them into thirty pairs of shorts.

With so much boy energy in the house, I was rediscovering my feminine side and this came out in accessories. I was falling in love with purses. And that was when the light bulb went off in my head. “Why not turn these jeans into totes?” They would be one of a kind and certainly catch anyone’s eye. The pockets were perfect for all the little things that find their way into our purses.

The first tote was developed and I took it to Bible Study, just the right size for my books and a few diapers. I got a lot of compliments and questions of “Where did you get your purse?” The reaction was more than I expected, which made me see a possibility.

So after much thought and prayer, Green Jeans Totes was born. With a lot of encouragement from my family and friends, I started sewing up a storm, and setting up this web site. Our first Open House was in June 2008, with much success.

Our vision is to give a woman a personal tote that she has had a part in creating. With our access to so many different styles of jeans, she can have a very unique and truly one-of-a-kind tote.
