-BACKGROUND- Shandara was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia - Canada, to a Jonathan & Kimerli de'La Croix, on September 20th, 1965. Being the only child of a native shipping baron father and a New York City mother, she was raised as a pampered little princess in the modern world. Having a white father and a black mother, she attended private schooling due to her parents' concerns and the racism of society at the time. Excelling at her studys and lessons, Shandara was deamed a child genius and graduated at the young age of 12. The following year, she was enrolled at Empire State University, due to her mother's suggestion that she get to experience the outside world. Being a plain, uninteresting girl, she was mostly ignored by her fellow classmates. Finally a college jock took interest in the young girl because of her intelligence. Figuring that he could sucker her into doing his homework for him, he started flirting with her. Having his GPA improve drastically didn't lessen the razing that the jock received from his friends and team-mates. So he decided that for her graduation, he would give her a special present - whether she wanted it or not. The night after her gradutation ceremony, in which she received honors for being at the top of her Cosmetic Surgery class, the jock took her out for a night of celebration. At first, things were really fun. She was hanging out with all the popular people from college, socializing with all the people that had jaded her before. However that night turned into the most horrible night of her life - after consuming quite a bit of alcohol, she was date raped first by the jock that she had helped with his homework, then the rest of the football team - all whille everyone else watched and made fun of her. The next few months seemed to drift by slowly, as she returned home and withdrew from the world even more. Noticing that something was wrong with his little princess, her father bought her a partner-ship in a leading Cosmetic Surgry firm in NYC. Returning there, she excelled at her work, spending most of her time engrossed in research. After weeks of hiding from the world, one of the nurses at the firm, the only person that Shandara considered a friend, coaxed her to have a night out on the town and to experience the things NYC had to offer. Eventually they ended up at an underground S/M club. Immediately Shandara was in love - she had found the one thing that her soul had been missing - the adventure of doing something that society frowned upon; being a Dominatrix. After that her time was divided between working at the firm and working at the club. It was there, at the club, that she first got her interest in the occult. Thinking that her success was due to her occult studies, she pioneered several new ways to enhance one's features with obtuse methods of reconstructing and enhancing body parts. It was at this time that her soon to be mentor, a Tzimisce named Alexis, took notice of Shandara. Here was a promising young student with amazing knowledge of human anatomy and a beginning grasp on the occult and pain. Alexis decided that she would help and test her possible protige. Over the next year, Shandara persued both of her passions endlessly. In the medical field she gained much attention from experts and companies, having several articles written about her new techniques. To compliment her surgical skills, she learned much about ancient methods of torture and pain. After gaining so much attention and fame in the cosmetic surgery field, she quit the Firm that she was working for and started her own cosmetic surgery business. After a year of hard work, long hours and several nights without sleep, Shandara had gained enough lucrative business to open another branch of her business. Having some of the best cosmetic surgeons in the world working for her in NYC, she decided that Miami would be the next place to open a branch. Gathering some supplies, she flew to Miami to start the ground work for the new office. Upon arrival at Miami, she was greeted by her sire - Alexis. Taking the new child under her wing, Alexis taught Shandara about her new "life" and all the things that had changed. Spending the next year with Alexis, Shandara proceeded to open her business and started to understand the Sabbat way. At the end of that year, Alexis took her, to parts unknown, to continue her scholarly research. Not long after that Shandara got first hand experience with the Camarilla. That was the night she first met Alejandro and the Riders on the Storm. It was a quite summer night, like any other. Shandara was quitely prowling about, looking for an attractive lady to seduce and feed on. A new nightclub had opened up in that part of town, so Shandara decided to check it out. Big mistake. The club had been opened by a Camarilla Tremere, to be used as a staging area for the Camarilla assault on Miami. Shandara showing up wasn't in their plans, so they decide to take out the frail looking little vampire. The Tremere almost succeeded, if not for the timely arrival of Alejandro. After a fight that almost costed them their unlives, they escaped to warn the archbishop of the city. Over the next few years, they stayed together to reform the Riders. At that time it had been almost four years since Shandara had been to NYC to check on her business. Since the pack was almost back up to full strength, she decided to take a small vacation and return to NYC just to check on things. During her visit was when the Camarilla attacked Miami. This caused a limited pull out of Sabbat in Miami, as the death toll was large for both sides. Not knowing what had happened to her packmates, Shandara was relieved when she got the call from Alejandro to meet them in Montreal. Checking to be sure her business were operating smoothly, she packed her things and caught the next flight to Montreal. The above graphic is a photo of
