In the fall of 2002, Danbury High School (DHS) completed work on a state-of-the-art track and field facility located on the school grounds (directions to DHS). The Danbury Area Track Club (DATC) was founded soon after by a group of track enthusiasts who wanted to further promote athletics throughout the Danbury area, using the DHS facilities as the centerpiece for club activities. Although the organization was originally founded to promote track and field, road racing also forms a major component of the club's activities. We are a nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors elected annually by the general membership.
The DATC's mission is to provide a friendly, competitive, team-oriented environment for those who want to compete at any level, whether it be national, regional, or local. The club welcomes runners of all skill levels, from elite to masters to youth. DATC promotes events in track and field and in road racing. It is our goal to provide structured training programs in the form of team practices under the guidance of experienced coaches. The DATC strives to offer members a forum where personal and competitive running goals can be achieved through customized training and personal development. As the club grows, financial support may be provided to teams and individuals for competition at major events.
