Time can sometimes take its toll,
even among the closest of kin.
Those cherished memories of the past,
in my mind lived again and again.
I could never hold you in my arms,
and speak of my love for you.
Distance took that pleasure away.
Praying was all I could do.
Through the years, I've thought of you often,
and wished we could have been close.
I wanted to be a part of your life;
that is what hurt me the most.
Things in the past are best left forgotten.
Many trials have come and gone.
My strength comes in knowing God loves you,
and is faithful to help you go on.
Please, don't have feelings of bitterness
in spite of all you had to weather.
Can we possibly rebuild and start anew,
now that God brought us back together?
I pray you'll allow Him to love you,
and to show you all He has in store.
With Him you'll always have everything
there's none other you'll ever need more.
I hope you know that I love you,
and have always prayed for your care.
I held you in the arms of my heart each day,
even though I couldn't be there.
