Satan roams the earth, going back and forth,
seeking to devour whom he wills.
Presenting himself before the Lord,
he brags of the souls that he steals.
"Have you considered my precious servant?"
said the Lord to Satan one day.
"She's upright, faithful, and also fears God.
This one you'll not cause to stray."
God allowed Satan to strike her,
and self-pity was the spirit he sent.
The taking of precious possessions,
he thought, would make her relent.
Then he sent pride and envy,
for surely they would destroy.
Make her think she's better than others,
while trying to steal her joy.
Next, he sent forth jealousy,
and hoped to make her covet.
He didn't expect to be wounded,
but she turned and said, "Satan, shove it!"
In desperation he sent resentment,
selfishness, complaining, and greed.
When those didn't work, he took his hoe,
and attempted to plant some weeds.
For days and nights this lasted.
Through it all she remained steadfast.
When Satan thought he finally had her,
she praised God, and began to fast!
I prayed that God would show me
what He sees when he looks at you.
This is the vision He gave me.
Like Job, you're faithful through and through.
I count it such a blessing
to observe your faithful dedication.
I hope one day to be a member of
your Aisle Runners Association.
