God's Perfection

by Deean G. Strecker

One of my favorite hobbies
is admiring beautiful trees.
I love to gaze on their splendor,
as their branches sway in the breeze.

If trees could tell a story,
I wonder what story they'd tell.
Such wisdom would come from their words, I know,
and lessons to learn as well.

One day while observing the trees in my yard,
I noticed something strange, but quite clear.
Each branch grew out and up toward God,
as if arms, it would appear.

"Why do their branches grow up," I asked,
"Instead of another direction?"
It was then a voice whispered in my ear,
"A tree is God's perfection."

"Their branches are lifted up in praise
as they sing a thanksgiving song.
Their worship of Me never wavers
and their love suffers no wrong".

When the trials of life come against them,
their faith never ceases or doubts.
Their branches are constantly praising Me,
even through floods or droughts.

When men uncaringly disregard them
or fire overtakes them in strife,
did you notice their branches are still lifted up,
even 'til the end of their life?"

"Did you ever realize that trees praise God?"
and in this, He states with inflection,
"Because their praises in Me never end,
A tree is My perfection."

When a tree is cut down, and its history made bare,
its life is written in the heart of its rings.
For the one who knows how to read them,
through this wisdom he learns many things.

When my life is cut down, I pray God sees
that the rings of my heart were Praise.
When toils and troubles came my way,
let Him see that my arms were raised.
