Your Promises

by Deean G. Strecker

You said You'd never leave us.
The Bible has clearly shown,
even until the end of time,
we need not carry our burdens alone.

Through many trials and struggles,
Your Word shows us the way.
Though others may forsake and leave us,
Lord, You promised that You'd stay.

I'm holding You to Your promises, Lord,
as I come to You in prayer.
Today I need to feel Your love,
and know that You still care.

It's hard at times to picture Your face,
while struggling with hopes and fears.
I often wish to be held in Your arms,
while you wipe away my tears.

Though our eyes have never seen You,
nor have our ears ever heard.
Your wisdom can still guide us
through the reading of Your Word.

My faith is all I have Lord,
yet, You, I know are true.
Although I cannot see or touch,
I'll always believe in you.

Sometimes I feel alone with despair,
when trying to live as I should.
I seek to please You in all that I do,
Just the way I know I should.

Often enemies gang up against me,
and say Your Word is a lie.
Yet, I know that when the end is here,
my soul will never die.

With the end so near, I didn't think
believers would be so few.
Still, Your promises reassure me
that You'll stay and see me through.
