How can I possibly take away
all those times I've caused you pain.
"I'm sorry," doesn't seem to be enough.
What profit from it would you gain?
For years you gave me strength to stand
when I had none of my own.
At times, I fell and could not get up.
You lifted and led me back home.
My precious Mom, how beautiful you are!
If only your eyes could see.
The greatest thing in life that you gave
were the years you gave to me.
If I could but only take away
each wrongful deed I have done.
If offered a lash for all the past pain,
I'd gladly accept each one.
Of all the things you taught me,
there’s one of which I boast.
To love God with all my heart and soul,
is the one that means the most.
Regardless of how you feel as a mom,
with me your job's been complete.
No matter what the others may say,
there's no other who can compete.
I pray that I in turn can give
the strength and guidance you gave.
Like precious jewels, I'll guard and protect
each treasure received I'll save.
