Amelia Mayer
Amelia Mayer was the daughter of Jacob Mayer and
Catherine Hoffman. She
was born April 15, 1859 in New York City, New York, and died June 7, 1927 in
Weatherford, Texas. She married
Gustav Adolph Jensen February 28, 1875 in New York City, New York, son of
Johann Friedrich Jensen and
Phillippina Kaufman. He was born November 16, 1852 in
Eltville, Prussia (Germany) and died July 11, 1940 in Weatherford, Texas. Gus was 22
years and Amelia was 15 years of age when they married.
Amelia was paralyzed by a stroke at the age of 59, but lived another 9 years dying at
the age of 68. Amelia's burial was June 7, 1927, at Greenwood Cemetery,
Weatherford, Texas.

Mrs. Amelia Mayer Jensen, age 68 years, died at her home in this city Monday
night at 9:55 o'clock after an illness that extended over several years. Mrs.
Jensen was born in New York City on April 15, 1859 and was married to Gus Jensen
at the same place on February 28, 1875. They moved first to Bridgeport, Conn.,
and from there to Dallas, Texas in 1878 and the following year moved to
Weatherford, where they family has since lived continuously.
Mrs. Jensen was the mother of 14 children of whom eleven survive. All of the
living children were present at the time of Mrs. Jensen's death except Ed Jensen
of Dallas. Besides the sons and daughters, she is survived by 28 grand-children
and six great grandchildren. The sons and daughters are as follows: Fred Jensen,
Frank Jensen and Mrs. Nellie Randolph, all of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Lillie Whitton,
Mrs. Lucy Withers, Earl Jensen, Otto Jensen and Miss Jessie Jensen, all of
Weatherford; Mrs. Annie Current of Petrolia, Texas; Mrs. Ruby Sisk, of Cisco,
Texas and Ed Jensen of Dallas.
Funeral services were held from the old home at 509 North Brazos Street, where
the family has lived for the past 27 years, at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Jensen was a member of the First Methodist church and the funeral sermon
was preached by her pastor, Rev. J. W. Mayne. Burial took place in City Greenwood
cemetery.
The following were pallbearers: Cal Terry, Frank Thomas, Bob Cherry, Everett
Shelby, Charles Heifrin and H.J. Doss.
