DON
CARLOS
CURTIS, JR., son of Don Carlos
Curtis, Sr.
Notes for DON CARLOS CURTIS, JR.
He spent
his childhood playing in Curtis Creek (south of the present ballpark and high school) and
roaming the hills of the vast area owned by his grandparents, the Andersons and
the Curtis'.
His father, Carl
Curtis (Don Carlos Curtis, Sr.),
had a mine located close to the present Curtis cemetery, which attracted
tourists from all over the country. Modern
homes now grace the site of the old mine. Yet,
after all these years, the Curtis family still gets inquiries about the mine by
people how have heard about it.
Don received his
education in the Weatherford schools and learned the masonry trade from an uncle,
WILL CURRENT. He helped lay the
brick on many Weatherford homes as well as his own home at 907 S. Main St.
