Martin Current

Martin Current (son of James Current, Sr. and Margaret Richardson) was born 1780 in Virginia, and died 1835 in Danville, Illinois.  He married Polly McLaughlin April 15, 1802 in Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia).  Joshua Hickman performed the marriage ceremony.  She was born between 1766-1784 in Virginia, and died about 1884 in Newell Township, Vermillion County, Illinois.

Notes:  Martin Current came to Vermillion County in 1827.  He was one of the earliest settlers in Newell Township.

Martin Current is found in the 1810 Monongalia County census, pg. 412.  The census shows 2 males under the age of 11 years, 1 male between 16-25; 2 females under the age of 11 years, and 1 female between 26-44.
