This meeting will be critical to the planning and implementation of the October 12th event which will raise public awareness as to the issue of overpopulation.
October 12th is the day designated by the United Nations as the day the Earth will reach six billion inhabitants. This number is twice as many as existed forty years ago. Zero Population Growth, along with the Sierra Club and the New England Coalition for Sustainable Population, are joining together to bring about an event which will hopefully make the news that day. The meeting on July 26 will determine how this event is to come off.
We will need people for the following tasks:
The success of the event will be largely determined by the commitment of people and their number that turn up for the July 26 meeting. So, please spread the word. We hope to create an event on October 12th that will raise public awareness as to the need to halt population growth. The number of people who we can attract to this first meeting will largely determine the effectiveness of our efforts thereafter. We hope that you can bring this up at your meetings and print it in your newsletters. Most important, come to the meeting, and bring a friend or two.
