Mission Trip 2010
The Haiti Committee is planning a mission trip to Our Lady of Mount Carmel for February 2-7, 2010. Parishioners who would like to participate in this great experience in relationship building and sharing are welcome to join this mission trip. The group will be limited to 10 people because of lodging and transportation considerations. The purpose of this trip is to minister to the medical and dental needs of our sister parish. However, no professional training is required to participate, just a willingness to help our Haitian brothers and sisters.
- Henri Ford, dentist, is leading this mission trip. We are in need of doctors, dentists, physician assistants, RNs, and LPNs. Please contact Henri if you are interested in lending your expertise.
- The individual cost for the trip is about $550.00. This will cover all lodging, transportation and food.
- The Mission will depart Atlanta, GA on February 2, 2010 at 8am on American Airlines and arrive in Port-au-Prince at 4pm. We will depart Port-au-Prince on February 7, 2010 at 1:30pm and arrive in Atlanta at 8pm. (Depending on medical personnel availability, the mission could be delayed one day, departing on February 3. if time from your office is a factor, please let us know.)
- We will be lodged at Our Lady of Mount Carmel rectory. The medical mission will be conducted February 3-6 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, about a block from the rectory.
- Prior to departure you will need a current passport and specific vaccinations. Please see the following checklist for more information.
- There will be an informational meeting in December for all interested people who contact us about their desire to volunteer for this very worthwhile activity. Contact information: Henri Ford, 334-887-9155, or Jerry Lopez, 334-224-6607 glopez1060@charter.net.
